Absence, Explained
I haven't posted in a while and when I pondered that thought last night I felt that I had to come up with something to say. Except that I don't have anything to say or anything to add.
I could spend some hours of my time explaining what I think the latest al-Qaeda pronouncement means, especially with its continued references to Spain as an enemy nation, but you already know what I'm going to say about that.
I could write about our government's philosophical paralysis in the face of an enemy that is smart enough to exploit our victim fetish and our commitment to liberal values, but you've heard that already too.
It may be intellectual exhaustion, or it may be simple despair over our position relative to the enemy's, but I think it is the overwhelming power of the sight of seeing almost the entire world turn against Israel for the crime of defending itself.
There is something deep at work here, something inexplicable, something unstoppable and evil.
It may be a conceit. It may be the beginning of madness. But I feel more and more like those few who saw the enormity of what was happening in 1934 and were powerless to stop it.
UPDATE: I'm not sure I even could say anything about this if I could manage it. From Yoni the Blogger (ex-IDF, in Israel):
